The AI Edge
Helping advisors scale from 1 person to many people.
AI Application:
Overview:
Claude is a Large Language Model (LLM ) that is used in collaboration with other AI tools or as a stand along general LLM. The key differentiator of Claude versus other LLMs is the advanced ability to do mathematical reasoning and coding. Claude allows non-developers to build usable technology applications by using regular language.
How to apply Claude to the business today:
Basic:
Write a client email
Research a specific financial planning topic
More Advanced:
Create a financial model that you currently use Excel for
Solve a complex financial question you are reviewing for a family (Social security question, Roth conversion, Tax planning / strategy)
Build a usable cash flow model customized to a family (or for general use)
Visualize financial models you have created for clients
What could this application mean for the future of our business?
This tool has the potential to revolutionize how wealth managers innovate, enabling them to build custom applications tailored to their business and the unique needs of their clients—without requiring a background in computer science. The speed of new developments will accelerate, driven by those who once relied solely on off-the-shelf solutions.
More importantly, this could mark the beginning of firms taking ownership of their own technology, particularly in financial planning. Instead of adapting to rigid, one-size-fits-all software, firms could develop cost-effective, highly specialized tools that align with their exact needs—transforming both efficiency and client experience.
See Claude in action:
The video below is a silent demonstration of how I used Claude to build a cash flow planner based on client meeting notes—without any PII.
Pay close attention to the prompts to see how the tool evolves in real-time. Not only was I able to direct the application to create a planner, but I did so using simple, natural language to shape its design. The end result? A tool I could seamlessly share with the client—whether on a call or in person—enhancing both efficiency and engagement.
The best is ahead!
